How do we hold the felt absence of place?

How do we raise a flood? Maelstrom, whirlpool, tidalwave, overflow.

Living on the edge of a climax.

Embodying catastrophe and devastation - the geological scale of human behaviour and excesses of civilisation.

Physicalising images of the climate crisis as collective lament; an act of memorial.

Sim Gray is the creator of MOVEMENT///POSSESSION - a platform for performance which is as engaged with personal transformation as it is with public presentation. Movement driven and informed by the spontaneity of play.

This workshop is facilitated in collaboration with interdisciplinary artist Steph Hartop and composer Theo Alexander. Bandcamp:

This series also acts as an OPEN CALL for joining IntimateAnimals. A feminist arts collective; exploring queerness, ecology and intimacy through ritual.

Our practice is based on butoh, through which we are exploring the realms of the subconscious, trance states and the notion of the "non-human". We will be playing around with this stimulus to develop our personal inter-species conscious compassion and a profound understanding of the continuous exchange between the individual body and its “outside” environment.

This is a free event, as part of our last year BA Performance Arts research into experimental cinema, sound and butoh-based movement practice.

Any/no levels of movement/ dance training welcome!

WE ARE NOT TEACHERS. We are facilitating and opening a space for body-research.

This is a LGBTQ+ friendly event. Acessible venue.
