Donation based dance/movement classes at SET, in 2019!

Concealing/revealing. Dancing with shadows. The abstraction of intimacy.

Hosted by dancer and musician Bianca Scout, and facilitated by performer Sim Gray, in association with bimonthly Movement///Possession events. These classes focus on practical techniques, taking place on Monday nights, from 7.15PM.

These sessions aim to improve core strength and flexibility through consistent training methods, while emphasising creativity and personal artistry within traditional forms. Each class will introduce a theme, which we will discuss together, such as:

-collaborative and democratic ways of working as an ensemble.

-performance as a visceral experience, that does not adhere to dramatic protocols of realism.

-telling stories in a non linear manner, subjectivity.

-human and non human forms, archetypal representations.

-melodrama, stylised gestures and the grotesque.

Throughout Spring, we will continue to study these practices:

-Classical ballet

We intend for these classes to be affordable and accessible. We also aim to accommodate any specific access requirements.

Please get in touch on if you want to book a place in advance, although you can also show up on the day.

These classes provide a welcoming space for non binary and QTIPOC people. £5 recommended donation.
